Grants open!

Thu, 09/08/2012 - 12:34

Hey guys - there is another round of grants open!  These are now open to a wider audience (yay!) and can support more than just cycling (also yay!) official spiel below:

The Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, in partnership with the Motor Accident Commission (MAC), is offering community grants for safer, greener and more active travel.  The grants are for groups, organisations, and workplaces to deliver small scale projects that promote safer, greener and more…

Shared Use Paths...Run For Your Lives.

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 13:33

I have often wondered if there is a protocol laid down in law for the all those who use shared used paths. In some council areas they have a sign indicating to horse riders, walkers and bike riders who gives way to whom. We all know that common courtesy dictates that if you are approaching walkers from behind on a bike, the cyclist is expected to ring their bell as a warning.

When I was a kid growing up we where told if we had to walk on a busy road, we should walk toward the oncoming…

Beware southern parklands commuters

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 13:04

I've just seen this report on Adelaide Now about fishing line being tied between trees across paths, bridges etc.  Please be careful if you are commuting through the parklands - particularly the Greenhill Rd / Hutt St corner:…

I need a new challenge...?

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 10:17

I am loving pushing myself and seeing how far I can ride and really want to achieve something quite difficult.

I have to be careful though as having a young family it also has to be something quite achievable and not too costly.

Anyone have any suggestions on events or charity events that I should put on my bucket list??

bike love going too far....

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 09:47

OK, this guy might be a little overly infatuated with his bike, but really, charged and convicted of a crime - hardcore...

it really can happen - another helmet issue - Beware!

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 09:43

This guy probably really would have lived if he'd had a hard hat on. Carrying bags in his hands is a big mistake too - even worse IMO.  Sad story...

Gran Fondo 2012

Tue, 07/08/2012 - 22:46

I'm doing the Gran Fondo for the first time and wonder whether anyone has room for a bike, body and bag in their car - happy to contribute to petrol cost of course :).

More of this would be nice :)

Tue, 07/08/2012 - 20:57

With all of the attitude we usually get from other road users, I thought I would share a genuinely nice experience from my ride today....

Coming home from a small spin up Waterfall Gully, I was riding down Greenhill Road towards the city. A rather large truck was on the road, and we were rolling at about the same speed. At the intersection of Portrush Road, the lights turned red and both of us, still heading along Greenhill Road, had to stop. The truck was at the front of the queue,…

Which nasty, sneaky hill was this photo taken at the base of on a wet arvo?…
