About BISA

BISA is a voluntary, not-for profit association that exists to advocate for a safe and pleasant cycling environment in South Australia. Established in 1974, BISA has been a strong advocate for cyclists in South Australia for over 30 years. Read BISA’s history.

BISA currently has around 300 members, The BISA membership includes regular and occasional cyclists, commuters, cycle tourists and those interested in advocacy.

For a small organisation BISA has achieved much for South Australian cyclists, in 2008 BISA undertook the following activities:

• Organised Adelaide’s third Ride of Silence, this ride increases in participates every year and highlights the need for a safer road environment.
• Co-sponsor of SA's annual Australian Cycling Conference.
• Representing key cycling issues to local and State Governments.
• Written submissions to Infrastructure Australia, Council bicycle plans and the State and Federal Government budget processes.
• Achieved a high profile in Adelaide radio and printed media. Some printed articles from Adelaide Advertiser are listed below.
