Bike Art Adelaide (BAA) is a community event that aims to explore, express and celebrate everything bike during the frenzy of cycle-love that accompanies the Santos Tour Down Under. In 2014, BAA will be held from 13-31 January.
BAA has secured seed funding for the event and we’re asking people who love cycling to participate.
BAA has selected themes for a number of locations that host racing in 2014. We're asking individuals or groups to pick a location and to create bike art around that location’s theme, to help 'dress' streets. A better explanation about what we're looking for is available at http://ow.ly/p0f56, but we’re basically after impact – a large piece or a couple of smaller pieces, and lots of colour. We have small seed funding amounts of $120 to give to individuals or groups to make their vision reality (we will also fund materials – within reason!). The locations, themes and links to inspirational photos are:
• Norwood: Unchain My Heart (http://ow.ly/p0fmG)
• Unley: All I Have To Do Is Dream (http://ow.ly/p0fpm)
• Prospect: 1984 (http://ow.ly/p0fro)
• Adelaide: China Eyes (http://ow.ly/p0ftL)
(Handy hint: Unley has more funding available than the other locations.)
We have also been gathering bicycle parts for participants to use on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Donations of old helmets would be welcomed at this stage!) Our inventory can be viewed at http://ow.ly/p6DHQ. We would be looking for artworks to be completed by the end of 2013 to help us with the logistics of getting pieces installed.
So, check out the themes, get creative and email your idea to Fay Patterson at firstname.lastname@example.org (or to discuss it, Fay’s mobile is 0409 284 165) to get your vision made into reality.
