Traffic Watch - report driving that endangers cyclists to new Police hotline

At our latest BISA Committee meeting, Vice-Chair Sam Powrie made us all aware of the SA Police's "Traffic Watch" service, where they have a hotline number (131 444) for quickly reporting traffic violations and dangerous driving for them to follow up.
BISA would suggest that cyclists take advantage of this service when you're subjected to dangerous driving on the roads. More info at our traffic watch page.

Hi

If only...

Was not encouraged by my recent attempt to have SAPOL take some action against the drivers and passengers of P-plated cars brimming with idiocy from which loud and frightening abuse is not infrequently hurled as I mind my own business, doing the world a favour treadling home up Belair Rd. I finally managed to see a number plate and all other required details but when I reported it to the city police station, the officer basically said there was nothing they could do, even less because a) I couldn't make out exactly what was yelled at me, and b) because it was the passenger and not the driver doing the verbal abuse. Sorry SAPOL, sympathizing with me about how dangerous riding a bike is these days doesn't come anywhere near the promised action of "Traffic Watch".

Helly

Traffic W#atch is a formal reporting programme. You need to ring the Traffic Watch number! Going to the front desk of a SAPOL station does not a Traffic Watch report make (to paraphrase Shakespeare)!
