Travelling by bicycle enables you to become or stay fit, make the roads safer with one less car, avoid traffic delays, save money and reduce your contribution to air pollution.

Before you start

  • make sure your bike is roadworthy
  • plan your route. Use the BikeDirect cycle route maps produced by Transport SA. You can also combine with public transport by taking your bike on the train. Bikes can travel on trains at any time. There is no charge for bikes between 9am and 3pm, after 6pm on weekdays and on weekends. See Adelaide Metro for train timetables and fares
  • Check that you can park your bike securely at your destination. If you are riding to a train or O-Bahn station, bike lockers are available at some locations
  • Check the Weather forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology
  • Is your workplace bicycle-friendly?
